What is CNC milling and how CNC milling works

cnc-machine.png

CNC milling (computer numerical milling control) is a CNC machining process that involves removing material from a workpiece by rotating and moving cutting tools, such as a milling machine, and properly positioning the workpiece to make or finish a custom CNC workpiece. CNC milling technique can be used to shape the part from start to finish, it is best to make features or definitions as a secondary or final process for machined components. The milling tool can be placed horizontally or vertically, but since numerically controlled milling machines have developed strongly, moving along several axes, up to 5 axes, allowing much more movement of the cutting object than moving the piece.

CNC Milling - What is the CNC Milling Process?

Starting from designing a drawing or geometry of a CNC milling machine with CAD software, then the CAM software converts the file into a CNC machine program, which can dictate to the machine what and how to do it. CNC milling machines use computer technology to complete production in the following basic stages of production:

Design of CNC milling CAD model

Converting a CAD model into a CNC milling program

CNC milling machine installation

Cut small pieces with a block of material to get an approximate shape

Perform CNC milling with greater precision and accuracy

CNC milling, a type of CNC machining service, is ideal for the production of CNC milling parts with high accuracy and low tolerances in prototype and small / large series production, which is achieved by the following conventional CNC milling.

Ordinary milling: also called surface or plate milling, refers to the milling operation using ordinary milling cutters with teeth on the cutting edge, the axis of rotation of the cutting tool is parallel to the workpiece surface.

Front milling: operations use milling machines with teeth both on the rim and on the tool side, the rotating axis of the cutting tool is perpendicular to the workpiece surface , generally for making flat surfaces and contours.

Pattern milling: uses shape-cutting tools or fly cutters for special purposes, including convex, concave cutters, typically to create irregular surfaces and contours such as curved surfaces.

Angle milling: written and angle milling, milling of flat surfaces that are not parallel or perpendicular to the cutter axis.

Gear milling: the process of milling to create gears.

Thread milling: Interpolation of the thread mill around or inside the workpiece to create the desired thread requires machines capable of moving simultaneously along the X, Y and Z axes.

Profile milling: rough or end mills on vertical or inclined surfaces, continuous tool path.

Ceiling milling: machine two or more parallel vertical surfaces in one cut.

Other milling processes: milling, side milling, end milling, saw milling, spiral milling, milling with cams, milling machines, grooves and grooves.

CNC Milling Machines - What is a CNC Milling Machine and Types of Milling Machines

The CNC milling machine uses a rotating cylindrical tool (milling machine) held in the spindle to perform milling, to obtain a wide range of shapes, grooves, holes and other necessary impressions. As a conventional computer numerical control machine, the CNC mill has the ability to cut at different angles and move along several axes, allowing different features and design of milling machines. The workpiece on the CNC mill can be moved by the tool in a certain direction.

There are different types of CNC milling machines divided according to the number of axes:

2-axis CNC milling machine: cuts holes and slits in the xiz axis

3-axis CNC milling machines: added y-axis, can cut vertically and in any direction

4-axis CNC milling machines: add the ability to rotate the x-axis, similar to a lathe.

5-axis CNC milling machines: the most complete milling machine, have uxiy axis rotation.

CNC milling materials - what types of materials do CNC milling machines use?

High-Precision-Pharmaceutical-Machine-Parts-CNC-Machining-Parts-Machinery-Parts.jpg

CNC milling machines can work on a wide range of materials for machining different parts:

METAL- (Steel, bronze, stainless steel, aluminum, zinc, special alloys, titanium, industrial and heavy metals, etc.), PLASTIC, (PE, PP, PVC, ptermoseti, thermoplastics), RUBBER (Elastomers), WOOD - (Particle Board ), CERAMICS, GLASS

CNC milling applications - what is CNC milling for?

Because milling allows for very high precision without changing the material structure with a good production rate, CNC milling is becoming more common as its range of machines, control systems and cutting tools only grow. Our CNC milling service is used to manufacture a variety of custom CNC milling machines and custom products in all areas of the industry.
